Somehow, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt returned. CD Projekt Red surprised us all earlier this summer with the announcement that it was bringing the beloved RPG to Switch 2, complete with all of its DLC (even the new stuff) and tasty remastered visuals to boot.
The game launches this week on 29th September, and to make sure that everyone is sufficiently hyped for the upgrade, we’ve assembled a side-by-side comparison between the Switch 1 and 2 versions so you can easily see the improvements.
There’s a little bit of everything in the above footage, as we showcase some open-world exploration, cutscenes, and some all-important combat, and the upgrades really do speak for themselves. There are so many more details crammed into the Switch 2 version, with the fresh lighting deserving a particular shoutout — just look at those skies!
If you want to see the above without quite so much movement, we’ve got some side-by-side stills for you below. Heck, if you want to get into the nitty gritty of some identical scenes, we’ve also added our Zoomer tool, so you can get the magnifying glass on the comparisons.
The best part about all of this is that it’s absolutely free to all those who own the game on Switch 1 already. To be clear, it’s not an automatic upgrade — you’ll have to download the Switch 2 version separately — but it won’t cost you anything to do so.
The full game launches tomorrow at 11am BST, 12pm CEST, 6am EDT, 3am PDT.
