England name squads for 2027 Women’s Under-19 World Cup and India tour


England have named their 15-player squad for 2027 Women’s Under-19 World Cup. The tournament, which will be played in Nepal and Bangladesh, begins in January, but England will send the same group of players on training camps in the UK before travelling to India in November for a five-match T20 series.
Warwickshire spinner Phoebe Brett returns from the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2025 tournament, while The Blaze’s Maria Andrews is also included having been a non-travelling reserve last time around.
Several players have experience of playing in the Tier 1 county set-up, including Essex allrounder Bryony Gillgrass, Yorkshire legspinner Holly Garton and 16-year-old Venus Weerappuli, another legspinner who plays for Lancashire. A captain will be named nearer the time.

The five non-travelling reserves for the U19 World Cup will be involved in the training camps and the tour to India.

“This is an exciting opportunity for this group of players who will be the best prepared squad we will have sent to the U19 Women’s World Cup,” England Women’s U19s head coach, Chris Guest, said.

“The aspiration as always is to win the U19 World Cup. Taking on board learnings from previous campaigns, we have gone about things slightly differently this time, ensuring that our players are getting some game time outdoors much closer to the tournament.

“The goals for the winter are dual focused. We want to win the World Cup, and we are also developing players and helping them prepare for what their career might look like in a professional environment.”
