American Airlines & Condor Ink New Interline Agreement

Fort Worth-based American Airlines has signed an interline agreement with German carrier Condor. This will expand the two airlines’ international partner network and give travelers more choice and connections between the two carriers. This will provide new connections to more than 150 cities through Condor’s transatlantic gateways in John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

With Condor set to begin flights to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) in May next year, an additional gateway will provide travelers an opportunity to travel on Condor’s nonstop transatlantic flights to Frankfurt, and onward to the airline’s extensive European network to popular leisure destinations across France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Austria, Greece, Switzerland and more.

Those booking a ticket that combines itineraries with the two airlines can book an entire journey on a single ticket; checked baggage is another benefit, meaning your bags are checked from the time you arrive at the airport until your final destination, subject to border control requirements.

With Condor set to add its new service to Chicago in May, this will see the two airlines gain an extensive North American offering with another key destination. This comes at an important time for American, as it continues to grow its O’Hare hub. Those traveling within the United States and onto the Condor network, or vice versa, will enjoy the growing Chicago network to hundreds of destinations across the country.

Jeff Ogar, American’s Managing Director of Alliances, spoke about the new partnership.

“American’s new agreement with Condor underscores our commitment to connect people with the places that matter most. Combining our extensive North American network with Condor’s presence in Germany and Europe creates a winning proposition for our mutual customers. We look forward to working together to deliver more travel options for our customers.”

German carrier Condor, which arguably has one of the best aircraft liveries on the planet, is celebrating the expansion of its global partnership network. The airline is already building on a successful partnership with Seattle-based Alaska Airlines, which has been in effect for more than a decade.

With Condor now teaming up with American, this will complement the existing Alaska network, with more options across the North American continent for travelers. Alongside operations in North America, Condor has a new partnership with Australian flag carrier Qantas to provide connectivity across Australia and New Zealand.

David Carlisle, Vice President, Network Planning & Partnerships, Condor, celebrated the news.

“With American Airlines, we are welcoming a strong partner whose network perfectly complements our own and significantly enhances our connectivity across North America. This partnership strengthens our position in the transatlantic market while offering our guests even more travel options. Together, we are continuing to expand our international network and create attractive travel opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic.”

The establishment of the new interline agreement between the two airlines will provide passengers not only the ease of a single ticket booking and through-checked baggage, but also protected connections. This means that if one flight is delayed, and you miss the next, the airline will support you in coordinating a new itinerary.
