Despite Rockstar Games’ silence on the matter, the cat rather seems to be out of the bag about GTA 6 getting its own online component that’ll doubtless serve as GTA Online has for GTA 5. Court docs the studio themselves filed as part of the ongoing final hearing in a legal battle over the firings of 34 developers last year are partly to thank, but now so is the boss of streaming platform Twitch just blurting out when he expects GTA 6 to get a big multiplayer bump.

“We spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans, and also helping them think about how they can engage our creators,” Twitch CEO Dan Clancy said in a chat with Bloomberg (via IGN). “You are going to see this big bump with GTA 6, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer.”

That’s not proper confirmation from Rockstar that whatever the next evolution of GTA Online looks like will arrive in 2027, since it’s not come from Rockstar. However, outside of potentially getting his wires crossed, there seems no obvious reason for Clancy to be telling porkies which might make it a bit more awkward to work with Rockstar on the likes of GTA Online Twitch Drops going forwards.

One can only hope that whatever’s the case, the studio feel compelled to set the record straight. Maybe they could also tell us when their game’s hitting PC while they’re at it. Actually, wait, you’ve got to use reverse psychology in these situations, right?

THE FIRST POINT STANDS, THOUGH, NO PERSON ON EARTH WANTS EVEN THE TINIEST BIT OF CONFIRMATION THE BIGGEST GAME OF THIS YEAR IS COMING TO PC.

Hey, I might be going off at the slightest whiff of GTA news, but I have at least not gone off and tried to order a version of the upcoming entry’s soundtrack on vinyl.
