Minister Anand meets with Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs 


September 17, 2026 – Ottawa, Ontario – Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met today with H.E. Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, during his visit to Ottawa.

The ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Defence and Security Cooperation and discussed opportunities to further strengthen Canada-Kuwait relations and advance cooperation on shared priorities, including regional and international issues, trade and investment, and security.

They also exchanged views on regional developments and the importance of maintaining regional stability and maritime security. The ministers committed to advancing shared priorities and deepening bilateral ties.

Minister Anand reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Kuwait and partners across the Gulf region.
