Lauren Archibald is now the parliamentary affairs advisor and parliamentary secretary assistant to Industry Minister Mélanie Joly’s office.

“This will be a very busy and rewarding position for me, and I look forward to helping build Canada strong alongside my wonderful new team,” Archibald wrote in a post on LinkedIn.

Archibald previously worked at Global Affairs Canada as a policy and issues management intern. She also spent time at Natural Resources Canada as a policy intern in 2025.

Meanwhile, the New Democratic Party caucus has a new press secretary.

Sam Hersh joins the NDP as press Secretary with a background in media relations, campaign management, and grassroots organizing.

Hersh has worked on and managed a number of NDP campaigns at the provincial, and federal levels as well as multiple municipal election campaigns.

Before joining the NDP, Sam worked at Environmental Defence, where he led advocacy campaigns on clean transportation issues and regularly served as a media spokesperson.

He is also the founder and former coordinator of Horizon Ottawa, a grassroots municipal advocacy organization that works on issue-based campaigns as well as pushing to get more progressives elected to Ottawa City Hall.
