LONDON — Sandra Choi will receive a Special Recognition Award for her “exceptional contribution” to the global fashion industry and her leadership of Jimmy Choo as one of the longest-serving creative directors in the industry, at this year’s Fashion Awards.

The awards are slated for Nov. 30 at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

The recognition aims to spotlight Choi’s three-decade run at Jimmy Choo, where she helped transform the label from a red carpet favorite into a global luxury player. Capri Holdings chairman and chief executive officer John Idol has previously projected Jimmy Choo as an $800 million business “over the next few years.”

Speaking to WWD about the honor, Choi reflected on the milestone through the lens of the city and industry that shaped her.

“British fashion gave me my start, and it has shaped everything I have done since. From that first studio in East London, I have been lucky enough to work alongside British designers, artisans, photographers, stylists and musicians who were fearless about doing things their own way, and that spirit is in every collection we make,” she said.

“My role has always been to hold the thread between craft and emotion, to make sure that a Jimmy Choo piece carries meaning for the person wearing it. To be recognized here, at home, in our 30th year, means more to me than I can simply put into words,” Choi added.

Earlier this year, Choi was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to fashion, joining a cohort of British fashion and beauty figures including Charlotte Tilbury and Clare Hornby on King Charles III’s 2026 Birthday Honours List.

Laura Weir, CEO at the British Fashion Council, called Choi “one of fashion’s most respected creative leaders,” adding that her vision has “shaped Jimmy Choo into an enduring global brand while continually championing the people and talent that drive our industry.”

As reported, the Fashion Awards is the primary fundraiser for the BFC Foundation, which was created in 2019 for charitable purposes. Its aim is to give grants to students and attract, develop and retain talent through education and business mentoring.

The BFC Foundation offers support to designers through four talent prizes, such as the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund; the BFC/GQ Designer Fashion Fund; the BFC Newgen, and the BFC Fashion Trust. It also offers BA and MA scholarships to students, as well as links with industry through design competitions and Graduate Preview Day.

This year, the event aims to reflect fashion’s intersection with music, film, sport and performance, and enable the BFC to continue to support and promote British fashion globally.
