It’s finally happening. Nearly four years ago, it was originally announced that a Friday the 13th prequel series was in the works. Now, Crystal Lake has an official premiere date, and it’s dropping smack dab in the middle of spooky season.
Anyone familiar with the lore of Jason Voorhees knows that the killer in the first installment wasn’t the boy who drowned at Camp Crystal Lake, but his grieving mother, Pam. Crystal Lake digs into Pamela Voorhees’s backstory in a way that reminds me of what Hulu’s Castle Rock series did for Paul Sheldon’s biggest fan, Annie Wilkes.
Emmy winner Linda Cardellini steps into the role of Jason’s dear old mom. Joining her in the cast are William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. The series is executive-produced and showrun by Brad Caleb Kane.

When to stream Crystal Lake on Peacock
All eight episodes of Crystal Lake will premiere on Peacock on Oct. 15.
Peacock has two price tiers to choose from if you want access to the streamer’s entire catalog: Premium is the ad-supported plan, which costs $11 per month, and Premium Plus (which is mostly ad-free), at $17 per month.
You could pay less than this with Peacock’s Select tier at $8 per month, but you won’t be able to view any of Universal Pictures’ movie roster.
