Stockport 3 – 4 Leicester

Leicester eased the pressure on manager Russell Martin after holding on to claim a 4-3 win over Stockport in a hugely entertaining match.

Liam Cullen put the Foxes ahead early on and although it was cancelled out by Jack Diamond, two goals for Emil Riis and one for debutant John Lundstram put Martin’s men firmly back in charge.

Ollie Norwood and Kyle Wootton both got their names on the scoresheet to bring County back into the match, but despite their best efforts, they were unable to find the all-important equaliser.

The result sees Leicester pick up just their second win of the Sky Bet League One season, while Stockport have now won three and lost three of their opening six games.

The visitors took the lead in the 11th minute when Cullen brilliantly controlled Louis Page’s pass and fired the ball into the bottom corner.

They were pegged back midway through the first half as Diamond latched on to Lewis Bate’s pass and drilled a shot into the bottom corner for his fourth goal of the season.

Leicester restored their advantage on the half-hour mark, with Riis running on to another pass from Page and dinking the ball over onrushing goalkeeper Ollie Whatmuff.

They found themselves further behind three minutes after the break as Riis cut inside from the left and smashed an effort from distance past Whatmuff.

It got even worse for County moments later, with the unmarked Lundstram heading home from Page’s corner.

Norwood pulled one back for Jimmy McNulty’s side from a cleverly-taken free-kick in the 57th minute and it was 4-3 soon after thanks to Wootton’s tap-in on his 200th appearance for the club.
