It’s day-two of Nintendo’s Direct September showcases, and today the focus is Switch games arriving this winter. Today’s show begins at 3pm UK time and we’ll be covering the big announcements here, live, as they happen.

What do we expect? Nintendo showed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake yesterday in some detail, so I expect that means Zelda is cleared from the board. That does leave room for another major Nintendo franchise to take centre stage, like, perhaps, Mario. We haven’t had a mainline 3D Mario game since Odyssey in 2017, nearly 10 years ago, so one is well overdue, though the Odyssey team was busy making Donkey Kong Bananza in the time since. With Nintendo specifying a “winter” focus for this showcase, however, a glimpse at a far-away Mario game might be wishful thinking.

What we can all-but guarantee, though, is a release date for FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods, which we know is coming this year but not when. Would an October release date be too soon? Would it dare go close to GTA 6 in mid-November? It’s a tricky time for a game.

There’s also hope of Nintendo revealing a long-awaited Switch 2 version of Diablo 4 ahead of BlizzCon this weekend, and I’m sure we’ll see some footage of Witcher 3 Remastered on Switch 2, after its Gamescom reveal last week.

We’re almost certain to see more of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, too, which releases next week for Switch 2. Nintendo has already shown off plenty of footage from this game, but maybe we’ll see even more either in the Direct, or in the Nintendo Treehouse that will last a whopping 110 minutes after the show is concluded.

But beyond that? I’m less sure. The “winter” period technically takes us to the end of February, so there’s room for things we don’t perhaps yet know about. Let’s see.
