Battlefield 6 Redsec is borrowing yet another mode from Call of Duty: Warzone – Resurgence

It’s been argued that Battlefield 6’s Redsec battle royale off-shoot is a response to Call of Duty’s popular Warzone mode, and today’s news is another indication of that.

Battlefield Studios has unveiled Rapid Royale, Redsec’s version of Warzone’s Resurgence. If you’re unfamiliar, Resurgence takes place on dedicated maps that are far smaller than the main mode’s large playground, and offers many ways to respawn after death. The pace is significantly faster with more frequent firefights as a result, and these are the principles guiding the Redsec version, too.

Rapid Royale features a reduced player count and is likewise only available on maps smaller than the main mode’s. The circles move faster, too, further pushing players closer and closer together. Expect matches that finish quickly, notably a lot shorter than the main mode.

Rapid Royale is one of several new additions coming to Battlefield 6 and Redsec with Season 5, which does not yet have a release date. While we wait for that, Season 4’s final stage – named Tidal Strike – kicks off 15th September and introduces the first iteration of proximity chat.

As the name suggests, the feature allows players to communicate with others around them who are not part of their squad. It’s initially available only in battle royale, with the plan to expand it to Battlefield 6 multiplayer down the road.

Season 4 has been a major step forward for Battlefield 6. It brought naval combat to Battlefield 6 alongside the game’s biggest map yet. The season’s second stage was even more exciting, introducing a Top Gun collaboration, a remake of Wake Island, two-seater jets and a reimagined Carrier Assault mode dubbed Carrier Strike. Season 5 has a vague ‘winter 2026’ target, and is expected to bring three new maps to the game alongside other unannounced additions.
