Making for one of the most memorable fashion moments to come out of the 2026 Venice Film Festival, Phoebe Bridgers stepped out for the screening of her new film “Primetime” on Sept. 5 in Venice. Bridgers plays a supporting role in the new Chris Hansen film, marking her acting debut.

The “Moon Song” singer’s ensemble was a marvel from Alexander McQueen‘s autumn/winter 2026 collection that looked like something ripped from a fantasy novel. The evening gown was crafted of a sheer slate gray fabric and featured romantic leg-of-mutton sleeves that transitioned into a subtly sloping bodice. The bodice of her gown was mainly crafted of a more opaque fabric, standing in contrast to the majority of the gown.

Lace cutouts traveled the length of the dress from beneath the bodice to the floor, cast in a deeper shade of gray to contrast. These panels of lace were incorporated into the flowing skirt, which pooled around Bridgers’ feet. The sheer garment was layered over gray lace undergarments that provided more coverage.

The evening gown is the work of Seán McGirr, the brand’s creative director who was appointed in 2023. The young talent succeeded Sarah Burton. Before serving his term at McQueen, the designer spent stints at JW Anderson, Dries Van Noten, and Burberry. McGirr’s design ethos lies in fine tailoring, close-cut silhouettes with references to Victorian dressing, as seen in Bridgers’ dress.

Bridgers’ McQueen ensemble was punctuated with jewels from Cartier and Leo Black Studio, namely, Nigeria and Grandfather Signet rings in silver. The actress also wore dangling earrings affixed with high-shine gemstones. The “Kyoto” singer’s white-blond tresses were gathered up into a messy but whimsical updo, playing into the fairytale motif created with her dress. Bridgers’ makeup was fresh and pink, topped off with a silver shadow in the inner corner to brighten things up.
