After falling short in the Western Conference finals last season, the OKC Thunder is looking to reclaim its spot atop the NBA.

To see how the 2026-27 season could play out, we simulated the entire campaign 10 times on NBA 2K27. The popular video game released globally on Friday.

Here are the results, from OKC’s record to player stats to award winners to playoff runs:

OKC Thunder projected 2026-27 NBA season results

Regular-season record

OKC’s average regular-season record was 60-22. Its average finish in the Western Conference standings was second, only trailing San Antonio.

Here’s a complete look at the average conference standings order:

Western Conference

4. Portland Trail Blazers: 52-30

10. Golden State Warriors: 38-44

The biggest breakout team in the West was Portland, which was led by its newly-formed backcourt duo of Damian Lillard and Ja Morant. The Trail Blazers consistently won 50 games but struggled to translate that into postseason success, never reaching the conference finals.

The most disappointing team was Denver, which took a step backwards after losing Peyton Watson this summer. The Nuggets finished in the Play-In range five times, and they only reached the conference finals once.

Eastern Conference

4. Cleveland Cavaliers: 53-29

9. Philadelphia 76ers: 38-44

12. Washington Wizards: 32-50

The biggest breakout team in the East was Orlando, which found its stride under first-year head coach Sean Sweeney. The Magic had four 60-win seasons and even won one NBA championship.

The most disappointing team in the East was Philadelphia, which added Jaylen Brown and LeBron James this summer but often struggled with injuries. The 76ers missed the cut for the Play-In tournament three times and only reached the conference finals once.

The best scorer outside of OKC’s Big Three was Ajay Mitchell, who averaged a career-high 15.3 points per game on 48.7% shooting from the field (37% from deep) while mostly coming off the bench. He never received the Sixth Man of the Year award despite his strong play.

Award winners

Numerous OKC players took home awards during the 10 simulations.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander earned two MVP awards, eight All-NBA first team selections, two All-NBA second team selections and two Clutch Player of the Years awards.

Chet Holmgren also earned one All-NBA third team selection, seven All-Defensive first team selections and two All-Defensive second team selections. Jalen Williams earned one All-NBA second team selection, one All-NBA third team selection, two All-Defensive second team selections and one NBA Cup MVP award.

Aday Mara even made the All-Rookie second team once, and Mark Daigneault won Coach of the Year three times.

Playoff results

Out of the 10 simulations, OKC won three championships. Gilgeous-Alexander won Finals MVP twice, and Jalen Williams won Finals MVP once.

OKC reached the NBA Finals four times. It also got eliminated in the Western Conference finals four times and the second round two times.

OKC and Minnesota each won three championships. They were followed by San Antonio (two), New York (one) and Orlando (one).
