The GapBag Collection Reimagines Gap’s Signature Products

Gap’s new Five-Pocket Tote exudes the same kind of personal, lived-in character as Jane Birkin’s iconic handbag, albeit in rugged denim.

The tote is part of the GapBag Collection, a new line that draws on Gap’s signature silhouettes, fabrics and details. The retailer said collection marks a significant step in its strategic expansion into accessories, “intentionally building on the strength of its core apparel business at a moment when consumers are seeking elevated design at accessible prices.”

“Gap has always stood for classic essentials that inspire individuality and self-expression,” said Mark Breitbard, president and CEO, Gap Brand. “With the new GapBag collection, we’re bringing that heritage into accessories through elevated design, great quality and accessible value. Built around iconic Gap styles, the collection extends our brand into new categories while offering customers fresh ways to engage with Gap.”

Described by Gap as a “new brand icon,” the Five-Pocket Tote anchors the range. It’s design nods to Gap’s core product: jeans. It features belt loops, denim hardware and five-pocket stitching. The bag is available in three sizes, as well as satchel and crossbody silhouettes in a selection of denim washes, canvas and faux suede.

“The Five-Pocket Tote series is emblematic of that unmistakable Gap style, in its broken-in washed denim, jean-stitch detailing and signature metal shanks. It is made for everyone, every day, every occasion,” said Reed Krakoff, Gap Inc.’s executive director of accessories.

The collection also includes the Hoodie Tote, a reinterpreting of Gap’s classic Arch Logo Hoodie, constructed from fleece and a neoprene lining; the Favorite Tote, a versatile canvas tote available in three sizes and in a selection of colors and prints; the Crescent Bag, a minimalist silhouette offered in denim and faux-suede; and the Shoulder Bag, an oversized carryall also available in denim and faux-suede constructions.

The collection will also offer a range of small accessories to complement the assortment, including charms, keychains, scarves and belts, allowing customers to personalize their bag.

The fall collection is the first to launch under the direction of Krakoff, a three-time recipient of the CFDA Accessories Designer of the Year award.

“Gap has been part of my life, as it has for so many people around the world, for as long as I can remember,” Krakoff said. “For more than five decades, Gap’s design language has shaped the way the world dresses. The GapBag Collection draws on that legacy: iconic American style, simple, never plain, built on the idea that form follows function and that luxury is the coming together of style, utility and design.”

To celebrate the launch, Gap will host an immersive pop-up at Rockefeller Center in New York City.

The complete GapBag Fall 2026 collection will be available on Sept. 8 at Gap.com. A selection of styles will be available in all North American Gap stores, and internationally, including Japan, Vietnam, Estonia, the Middle East, Mexico, Australia, Peru, Greece, Turkey, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Paraguay, the U.K., and in the EU via Zalando.
