Singapore Airlines Launches 4 Major Long-Haul Routes In 3 Months: See Full List

Widebody aircraft continue to play a critical role in Singapore Airlines’ operations. In the final months of 2026, OAG data shows that the airline plans an average of 125 daily twin-aisle departures from Singapore Changi Airport (SIN). The equipment is not only used for higher passenger capacity but, critically, also for much more freight capacity.

Singapore Airlines is the world’s fifth-largest operator of international widebody flights, which includes the Airbus A380. The carrier does not fly domestically. 73% of the Star Alliance member’s flights from SIN are on twin-aisles, which is a considerable proportion. Of course, it would have been 100% until the operations of narrowbody partner SilkAir were subsumed into Singapore Airlines’ network in 2021.

Singapore Airlines Will Launch Or Restart 4 Long-Haul Routes Soon

They are summarized in the following table. Perhaps the most notable addition is Western Sydney International (Nancy Bird Walton) Airport (WSI). Obviously, SIN-WSI is a brand-new airport pair, which is particularly good to see. Singapore Airlines will be WSI’s first long-haul carrier. The route launch contributes to the carrier having record flights and seat capacity to Australia in the northern winter, which will, of course, boost its competitiveness relative to others, especially the Gulf giants.

Three of the four entries are resumptions, although two are coming back after many years. It is entirely fair to include them. However, including Dubai International Airport (DXB) is debatable, as departures to the Middle East’s busiest airport will simply return after a war-induced suspension. Flightradar24 shows that they last operated on February 28, 2026, as the war broke out. The main way in which it is interesting is that flights on the A380, which were previously scheduled, have been removed entirely.

Flights To Madrid Will Return After 22 Years

Singapore Airlines has a reasonable history of flying to MAD. The carrier previously flew to MAD in 2004, when the Boeing 747-400 was deployed. Despite the detour, flights stopped at Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG) in both directions.

Things will be somewhat different now. Five weekly departures will be available, with the A350-900 stopping at Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) both outbound and inbound. As BCN-MAD is a domestic airport pair, traffic rights will not, of course, be available.

As part of this, all flights from SIN to BCN, and vice versa, will now be nonstop, increasing the carrier’s competitiveness in the market. Until flights are relaunched to MAD, some will stop en route at Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP). When MAD comes back online, all services to MXP will be on a so-called terminator basis, with aircraft not continuing elsewhere. The airline must be confident in consistently filling a daily service to MXP.

Flights From Singapore To Riyadh Resume Soon

Schedule data indicates that Singapore Airlines previously flew to the capital of Saudi Arabia from 2008 to 2014. The 777-200ER was deployed between 2008 and 2011, when the route switched to the A330-300 until the final service took off.

A notable aspect was that RUH was served on a one-stop basis via DXB between 2008 and 2012. However, it seems that some flights stopped in Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH), rather than at DXB, in 2011 and 2012.

Between 2012 and 2014, flights to/from RUH, which flew nonstop, were extended to Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED). Singapore Airlines had flown to JED for some time, with most flights operating via AUH, DXB, or RUH. Flights to JED ended in 2016, with the carrier’s lower-cost unit, Scoot, now flying there, keeping the destination in the Group’s network.
