Disney Inks Deal With Planet Coaster Maker, Opening Doors to a Disneyland Park Game

Frontier Developments, the studio behind Jurassic World Evolution, Planet Zoo, and Planet Coaster, has inked a deal with Disney to develop an upcoming game.

While details of the project remain thin on the ground for now, a press release sent to IGN stated that the game will “build upon the company’s extensive experience and proven capabilities as a leader in the creative management simulation genre.” In other words, expect a Disney sim game.

It’s not a huge leap to expect something akin to a Disneyland park creator, especially as the studio is well versed in extending its expertise to licensed properties via its Jurassic World Evolution franchise. Indeed, Frontier made 2011’s Kinect: Disneyland Adventures, which was eventually remastered and made playable without Kinect.

“We are delighted to announce this collaboration with Disney, which further reinforces our clearly defined strategy of developing and nurturing world-class creative management simulation game franchises,” noted Frontier CEO Jo Cooke.

“Our mission with this game is to connect a passionate creative community of players with one of the world’s most iconic and beloved brands, and I can’t wait to see what our talented teams will create with this amazing opportunity.”

As well as its freshly-inked Disney deal, the studio reaffirmed today that it also has another unannounced Planet sim game in the works. Planet Zoo 2 launches in October, and Frontier is set to publish strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch.
