Air France has today opened the doors for its new lounge, which is located at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) and open from 5:00 AM to 9:30 PM daily. The lounge is inside Terminal Three. The facility was inaugurated last April.
The new lounge contains everything Air France premium travelers have come to expect. This includes the elegant Air France color palette across the bright and spacious lounge, which covers 5,400 square feet (500 square meters). The appearance of the lounge, and its clear reflection of Air France’s brand, has been developed in partnership with the MARKS brand image agency.
The Lounge Will Focus On Dining And Hospitality
Following French tradition, the heart of the new loungeis its dining area, which includes an open kitchen. The space can accommodate 50 guests. The food served will follow a carefully curated menu that will develop as the day progresses. Customers can choose from sweet and savory options, with vegetarian dishes are also available. While non-alcoholic drinks are available, the alcoholic drink options are the strongest. They combine traditional French and German drinks, with both French wines and champagne, and local beers available.
Yet, this lounge is much more than just a restaurant. Away from the dining areas, there is plenty of space to relax or work. The functional work area will feature a soundproofed booth, designed for important Zoom meetings. Complimentary Wi-Fi and numerous power outlets help create a great environment to work in.
Marking the lounge’s opening, the airline’s corporate media team wrote:
“The airline now offers customers an elegant space designed as a peaceful retreat, showcasing the refinement of French hospitality before departure or during a connection.”
Who Will Be Able To Access The Lounge?
The lounge is accessible by Air France Business customers and Flying Blue Elite Plus members. However, passengers making use of the Business Light are excluded. Outside of Air France, eligible KLMand SkyTeam alliance customers can also use the lounge. SkyTeam airlines include Delta Air Lines, Kenya Airways, Scandinavian Airlines, and more.
A common complaint among premium travelers is that carriers are expanding access to their lounges too much. They say that this lessens the exclusivity experienced in a business lounge. Air France deals with this problem by creating exclusive areas in its new Terminal Three lounge. For example, Flying Blue Ultimate members can enjoy an exclusive and tranquil area. These elite passengers can relax in cocoon-style seating away from the hustle and bustle of the airport.
It’s Located In Frankfurt’s New Terminal Three
The latest Air France lounge has been opened in Frankfurt Airport’s Terminal Three. It has been built on land that was previously home to Rhein-Main, a United States air base. Its construction followed a decision by the German government that both Frankfurt Airport and Munich Airport (MUC) needed third terminals to handle ever-increasing passenger numbers. Terminal Three at Frankfurt helps match this demand by producing 75 new aircraft positions.
The table below shows key statistics for Frankfurt Airport’s Terminal Three, making use of data published by the airport:
Terminal footprint | 1,894,000 square feet (176,000 meters squared) |
|---|---|
Total floor space | 4,338,000 square feet (403,000 meters squared) |
Steel used in construction | 246,900,000 lb (112,000 tonnes) |
Passenger capacity per year | 19 million initial, 25 million after expansion |
Total investment for airport expansion project | Four billion euros |
Terminal Three was originally slated to open in 2023. Yet, the COVID-19 pandemic caused years of delays. It wasn’t until this April that the terminal finally opened. The delays lasted so long after the pandemic because airports like Frankfurt were unsure of how quickly the aviation industry would recover enough for the third terminal to be needed.
There have been four slates of airlines announced to be moving from Terminal Two to Terminal Three since its opening in April. Example carriers include Cathay Pacific, Oman Air, and Qatar Airways.
