Each week, airlines from around the world submit schedule changes to OAG, Cirium Diio, and other platforms. The updates could include everything: new routes, markets that will be eliminated, frequency and capacity increases and decreases, equipment swaps, shorter or longer operating periods, and so on.

In the latest update, Singapore Airlines removed all future Airbus A380 flights on two major routes. The carrier has disclosed that it will no longer deploy the superjumbo from Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) to either Dubai International Airport (DXB) or Hong Kong International Airport (HKG). Further changes may materialize.

Singapore Airlines Removes All A380 Flights To Dubai

Due to the ongoing war in Iran, no route that’s operated by Singapore Airlines has seen so many changes recently as SIN to DXB. In February 2026, before the war started, the Star Alliance member revealed that it’d fly the 471-seat double-decker quadjet to the Middle East’s busiest airport at the end of March. A month later, use of the superjumbo was pushed back to May and then to October. The type was subsequently not due to appear until the end of March 2027.

The plan has changed again. In the latest schedule update, all future Singapore Airlines A380 flights to DXB have been removed. Due to the war, the route is currently unserved. The carrier’s flights will resume on October 25, 2026, when the 303-seat Airbus A350-900 will operate. The higher-premium, lower-capacity, 264-seat Boeing 777-300ER, which has a first-class cabin, is due to take over on March 28, 2027, for the summer.

The A380 Has Also Been Removed From Hong Kong Flights

Singapore Airlines has flown the A380 to HKG for years. The type first appeared a considerable 17 years ago, in 2009, and operated on a more or less daily year-round basis for years. Occasionally, the double-decker even operated twice daily between Lion City and the Pearl of the Orient, although that most recently happened a decade ago, in October 2016.

Probably inevitably, use of the A380 on this relatively short link, which covers 1,379 nautical miles (2,554 km) each way, has changed dramatically recently. In 2025 and 2026, the 471-seater was only used for two months each year. In 2026, that was in June and July.

The plan has changed again. In the latest schedule update, Singapore Airlines has removed all future A380 flights to HKG. The type was to be deployed in June and July 2027, presumably based, in part, on school holidays. But that is no longer due to happen (unless the schedule is updated again). One consequence is that HKG will now only have one A380 operator in 2027: Emirates.

Now Six A380 Routes From April-July 2027

Let’s narrow the focus to April to July 2027. In that period, the latest information, as of August 31 and subject to change, shows that Singapore Airlines now plans six A380 routes from SIN. The equipment will be deployed to Delhi (daily until June 19, then back on July 25), Frankfurt (daily), London Heathrow Airport (twice daily), Mumbai (daily until July 24), Shanghai Pudong (daily, but only June 20-July 24), and Sydney (twice daily). Flights to Auckland and Melbourne are only due to operate during the northern winter.

Until the most recent update, Singapore Airlines had planned 969 A380 departures from SIN between April and July next year. The removal of the type from DXB and HKG means that it has now been reduced by 13% to 847. On a global basis, the reduced offering means that Singapore Airlines will now be the fourth-largest A380 user by flights, down from third. This could all change again very soon.
