19-Hour Flights: The USA’s 11 Ultra-Long Nonstop Routes Revealed [List & Map]

Ultra-long-haul travel means buckling into your seat for an extended period, usually to the other side of the globe. This article will uncover the longest ultra-long-haul flights to and from the United States. Have you flown on any of these flights?

Using data from Cirium, an online aviation analytics company, we have analyzed the longest flights by duration between September 2026 and March 2027. At more than 19 hours, the longest service between New York and Singapore would make anyone start to feel cabin fever.

The world’s longest flight, and easily taking the crown, is that of Singapore Airlines and its nonstop services that connect John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Singapore Changi Airport (SIN). These routes exceed 19 hours nonstop when flying back to the Lion City and are operated by the specially designed Airbus A350-900ULR aircraft.

What makes these flights unique is not just due to the longest flight time, but that the current aircraft operating the flights is the airline that has the longest range of any current airplane (to be overtaken by Qantas’ A350-1000ULR, which will support Project Sunrise). For SQ, the only operator of this aircraft, it is configured with no economy class, meaning it’s for premium passengers in the airline’s business and premium economy cabins.

Digging deeper, the next longest flights from the United States are those of Air New Zealand and Qantas, which maintain multiple weekly flights from New York-JFK to the largest city in New Zealand (Auckland). The services to Auckland Airport (AKL) are operated daily by Qantas, while Air New Zealand operates several flights a week. Qantas uses Auckland as a suitable stopover for its New York-Auckland-Sydney flights, but passengers may buy tickets only for Auckland-New York and vice versa.

The service from New York to Auckland comes in at an eye-watering 18 hours and five minutes, firmly cementing the city pair as the third longest flight from the United States.

The fourth-longest service is New York to Manila, operated solely by Philippine Airlines. The connection to Manila is operated by the A350-1000 and provides seamless connections into its network. The route is popular for the large diaspora of Filipinos who call the Big Apple home.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Singapore rounds out the top five, with the route operated by Singapore Airlines, providing frequent flights with modern aircraft. Rumors suggest Delta could be next to dip its toe into this market, covering the 17-hour, 40-minute flight between these two cities.
