Centric Software said it is expanding its sustainability, compliance and product governance capabilities in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) across fashion, footwear and other retail categories.

The company said in a statement that the enhancements will reinforce Centric PLM as the trusted product data foundation for increasingly complex product and regulatory requirements.

Trust in product data is becoming more pressing as more regulators demand transparency. In the EU, for example, these measures range from the Extended Producer Responsibility and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation to broader initiatives under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, which include the forthcoming Digital Product Passports.

On top of responding to evolving requirements, organizations would also need accurate, trusted and connected information across products and materials to make informed decisions and accelerate product development, Centric Software said.

Creating more sustainability-related information is not the challenge, but rather how to put together fragmented data into trusted public records, the Silicon Valley-based company said.

Rather than relying on point solutions for individual compliance requirements, Centric PLM said it embeds sustainability, compliance and traceability directly into product and packaging development. This creates a single, trusted source where product information is captured once and reused as regulatory requirements evolve.

The latest Centric PLM enhancements enable brands, retailers and manufacturers to improve sustainability reporting with sustainability profiles and automated composition roll-ups for more accurate labeling and reporting. They would also strengthen compliance governance with centralized certificate management, supplier certifications and expiry tracking.

The enhancements would also enable them to design for circularity earlier with recyclability and circularity insights embedded in product development, as well as improve supplier collaboration and visibility by collecting and governing sustainability and compliance information in Centric PLM.
