United States President Donald Trump says he is considering changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America as the trade war between the US and Canada escalates.

“The United States is giving serious consideration to changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America in that we don’t expect to be doing much business with Ontario any longer,” Trump said on Tuesday in a post on his Truth Social platform.

The move would be similar to how Trump sought to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America through an executive order last year.

    The worst bit is that people seem to be taking it seriously. I’m sorry Canadians, but all this means is that the US government will waste a ton of money on maps that say whatever nonsense he decides on, then it’ll all have to be put back at equally stupid expense later. It’s rude, it’s to put even more of a hate gap between the countries, but mostly it’s to distract from how badly he’s failing to do anything at all except hurt people.
