Nike 24.7 Recovery Shoe: Available Now IR0447-001

Typically, many of Nike’s new footwear innovations and releases are accompanied by press release announcements or at the minimum, coordinated social media rollouts. But with such a constant flow of product being introduced, there will inevitably be some noteworthy launches that slip through the cracks. Such is the case with the Beaverton, Ore.-based sportswear company’s new 24.7 sneaker, a just-released model that Nike says is made for “intentional recovery.”

The Nike 24.7 was released in men’s and women’s sizes this month, debuting in Black/Anthracite/Black (style code IR0447-001) and Cream II/Phantom/Sail/Light Orewood Brown (style code IR0447-200) colorways. According to Nike’s official product description, the 24.7 delivers “springy cushioning and a seamless lining for comfort that works as hard as you do.” And a closer look at the model’s components reveals that the promise is more than just a tagline.

The key feature of the Nike 24.7 is its chunky stacked foam midsole. Nike doesn’t specify which foam compound is used in the shoe — a sign the 24.7 is unlikely to contain any of the company’s top-tier cushioning materials such as ZoomX and ReactX — but based on looks alone, the ample amount of underfoot cushioning should be more than equipped for recovery days.

Another highlight of the 24.7 is one that will go unseen, but will certainly be felt. Internally, the sneaker is built with a seamless knit lining that’s been given a soft brushed treatment, meaning there are no stitches or rough fabrics to distract from the shoe’s Zen-like intentions.

The 24.7 also features a hands-free, slip-on build with a collapsible heel to further eliminate unnecessary distractions. Yet, despite the seemingly carefree construction, the shoe’s high sidewall design is intended to hug the wearer’s foot for a secure fit.

While it may not be quite as advanced as Nike’s hit science-informed Mind franchise, the 24.7 is positioned to be yet another worthwhile offering in the brand’s fast-growing recovery category.

The Nike 24.7 is available now from nike.com and select retailers for $140. A detailed look at both styles appears below.
