A few Lions were dinged up during Detroit’s 17-13 win over the Washington Commanders in the NFL preseason.
Veteran receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. injured his knee in the first quarter and Lions head coach Dan Campbell said afterwards that he was concerned it might be serious.

“Yeah. I don’t know for sure. I’m worried. I’m worried on that one. I love (Cedrick) Wilson, man. He’s a smart, crafty football player. Gets it, can play all the spots at receiver, special teams. We don’t know. We’re getting that knee looked at. We don’t know, but I’ll leave it at that,” Campbell said.
Campbell said that running back Jabari Small was being checked for a concussion, too. Small carried three times for 16 yards.
“He’s getting checked. He kind of got dinged there, concussion protocol,” Campbell said.
Michael Niese injured his leg blocking downfield on a Lions screen pass to running back Trayveon Williams in the third quarter. Campbell didn’t provide an update on Niese’s status after the game, but Niese was spotted on crutches in the locker room.

Lions running back Sione Vaki sat with back spasms.
“Vaki, really, he woke up yesterday and he just had something, kind of a knot in his back here. It’s not major, but it’s enough to where it’s one of those bad spasms to where we were hoping we could get it out of there, give him some stuff to hopefully loosen it out and we ran out of time with it.
“Now, the good news… We would’ve loved to have seen him. I told him that. He wanted to play. But, he also, man, he got some really good work coming off of a broke nose, a punched out eye. And so I’m like, ‘I think we’re good Vaki for a little bit here.’ And so we’ll get this to calm down. He’ll be ready to practice this week I would anticipate. So, I think we’ll be OK there,” Campbell said.
