Video: Metal Gear Solid 4 Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch 2, PS5, PS3)

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 launches on the Switch 2 (and Switch) on 27th August 2026, and as we’ve previously mentioned, MGS4 is finally free from PS3 exclusivity.

YouTube channel ‘ElAnalistaDeBits’ has now released a side-by-side graphics comparison, showcasing the Switch 2 version of this game alongside the original PlayStation 3 release as well as the new PlayStation 5 version.

As mentioned in the description of this same video, the main differences apparently include “improvements to resolution, shadows, and textures”. The Switch 2 version also supposedly offers a “stable 60fps”, which is a step up on the original PS3 release (targeting 30fps with “drops as low as 15fps”).

Konami previously shared the technical specifications of each version of MGS4 in the second Master Collection, including the resolution and required storage space for the Switch and Switch 2 versions of the game. Here it is, in case you missed it:

The PS5 review for the Master Collection Vol. 2 is already live on Push Square, and the fourth game is said to be the “best it’s ever been”:

“Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots finally arrives on PS5. The nanomachines, the fashion model robot monsters, the flamenco dance battle, the fried eggs, the cigarette smoking underpants monkey, and that ridiculous final boss, all running at 60 frames-per-second and looking better than ever. This is good, isn’t it?”
