Topshop Teams With Cara Delevingne for Denim-focused Capsule

STYLISH FALL: Topshop and Cara Delevingne on Monday unveiled their first codesigned collection, bringing back classic denim looks and versatile basics inspired by the multihyphenate model’s signature off-duty wardrobe.

“Topshop has been part of my style story for as long as I can remember, so codesigning this collection felt really personal. I’ve always loved the way the brand captures London style that feels distinctive yet effortless,” said Delevingne, who first worked with the brand in 2010, appearing in the Kate Moss for Topshop collection campaign.

The British brand has worked closely with the London-born model for over a year to craft a 16-piece capsule that reinterprets classic wardrobe staples as denim designs. It includes a beige trenchcoat reimagined as a cropped light brown jean jacket cinched at the waist with a belt, and boxy jorts reframed with a curving pattern in light-washed and chocolate-brown denim.

The launch campaign is aimed at showcasing the city’s contrasting lifestyles through casual tank tops and turtlenecks, an overdyed denim pin-striped blazer-and-pant set, and a floor-length, wraparound jean skirt.

And it’s not a full denim launch without talking about the jeans. Options include classic, long, slim, high-waisted jeans offered in different lengths, and extra-baggy dark-wash barrel jeans.

“Cara has always been synonymous with the confidence and creativity at the heart of Topshop,” said Michelle Wilson, managing director of Topshop. “As a global style icon with deep London roots, she brings a distinctive point of view that resonates with our community around the world.”

The democratically priced and size-inclusive Topshop x Cara Delevingne capsule goes live on Monday, with additional items, including a biker-inspired zip-up jacket and a matching brown zebra oversized funnel-neck coat and micro-mini skirt, dropping Sept. 1.

Under the backing of Asos and Heartland, the investment and holding company representing the interests of Bestseller owner Holch Povlsen and his family, Topshop has embarked on an ambitious turnaround effort since last year. It has hosted a runway show at Trafalgar Square and teamed up with British-Nigerian designer Tolu Coker on a capsule collection.
