Australia won the toss and decided to bowl against Bangladesh
The two teams renew their battle after the visitors surprised world cricket with a nine-wicket win in the first Test in Darwin.
Jake Weatherald made way for Matt Renshaw for the home side that announced their XI on the eve of the Test match. There was a brief moment when it looked like Nathan Lyon could be dropped in favour of a four-man pace attack, but a short while later, Australia’s big four – all having now completed 300-plus Test wickets – were kept together.
The visitors, meanwhile, have brought back left-arm quick Shoriful Islam to their line-up, in place of Ebadot Hossain, to break up their winning combination. Shoriful has recovered from a hamstring injury that he picked up during Bangladesh’s tour of Zimbabwe last month.
The rest of the Bangladesh playing XI remain unchanged, with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto retaining his three quicks and two spinners as the preferred combination. Tanzid Hasan, who made a maiden Test century in Darwin, will play after recovering from a stiff neck, while veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim was also passed fit after a blow to the fingers during a training session in Mackay.
