the sun’s
last light
drapes
over
bare
slopes —
offering
comfort
before
the earth
grows
cold —
golden
rays linger
like loose
ends —
until
the moon’s
cool beam
cuts the
solar
loom —
and threads
fall from
the heavens
as tails
on comets —
broom stars
sweeping
away the
remains of
the day.
