Fans of The Simpsons have been calling for the revival of the GTA-like release The Simpsons Hit & Run for many years now.

The co-showrunner previously said a lot of “corporate octopus” stand in the way, but it looks like something might finally be happening. At a D23 panel this week, creator Matt Groening may have teased a big announcement ahead of schedule.

Here’s what he had to say, according to Empire Magazine:

Asked if there’ll be another The Simpsons: Hit & Run game, Matt Groening says: “I think the original game is coming back in some form…”

“…or not,” says current showrunner Matt Selman. Sounds like there may be some news coming that wasn’t supposed to be announced yet…

The Simpsons Hit & Run was originally released for the GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox in 2003. It was developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Vivendi Universal Games.
