Announcement of new diplomatic appointments


August 13, 2026 – Ottawa, Ontario – Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced the following diplomatic appointments:

Robert Brookfield will become Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation. Mr. Brookfield will replace Sarah Taylor.

Juliette Gundy will become Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Iraq. Ms. Gundy will replace Christopher Boehm.
