Adidas Gives the Samba a New Look With Deer Print Pony Hair

Animal prints have proven key to keeping the Adidas Samba relevant years into its current run, and the sneaker’s latest foray into the trend is opting for an underutilized skin.

The Adidas Samba “Deer Print” wears its spots across a pony hair upper. The white and brown pattern covers the majority of the upper’s panels, save for cream leather striping and mustache. A soft look continues with pink being used for the lining, tongue and laces, while the cupsole arrives in its classic translucent gum rubber.

Last year, Adidas routinely sold out its cheetah print Samba, and the sneaker has since been followed up with treatments including including cow, green leopard and snakeskin. Credit has to go to Wales Bonner, which set the stage for the inline drops with its limited-edition leopard print Samba from 2023.

Many other brands have gotten in on the journey through the animal kingdom. Nike has routinely employed the Air Force 1 Low in the mission, New Balance has favored crocodile-textured leather on a variety of sneakers and the likes of Vans, Puma and more aren’t staying away either.

In the broader realm of footwear, a rare deer entry also came via Colour Plus Companie’s collaboration with Sperry on the Captain’s Oxford.

The Adidas Samba “Deer Print” has already begun releasing overseas but is expected to release Sept. 1 through Adidas’ U.S. website. Pricing is set at $110.
