We have yet another sign that Diablo 4 is on its way to Nintendo Switch 2. A new report from Dealabs’ billbil-kun, a leaker with a solid history of industry leaks, has indicated that we’re closer than ever to the game’s release on the hybrid console.

According to billbil-kun, Diablo 4 is set to be released in the middle of September on Switch 2. The report doesn’t mention a specific date, instead saying we should expect it on either 15th or 18th of September.

The Switch 2 version will have a physical release, though only as a code-in-the-box – like Grand Theft Auto 6 – meaning there won’t be a physical cartridge, just a code to be redeemed on the eShop. This also suggests the physical version won’t include a Game-Key Card, removing the customer’s ability to re-sell the game.

Billbil-kun also revealed the Switch 2 version of Diablo 4 will cost £63 / $70 / €70. Unfortunately, they’re unable to confirm whether that’s going to include the Vessel of Hatred or Lord of Hated expansions.

If true, Diablo 4 would arrive a little over three years after initially releasing on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Blizzard never officially addressed the desire for a Switch 2 version of the game. During a recent studio visit, Eurogamer asked directly whether a Switch 2 version of Diablo 4 (or Diablo 2: Resurrected) are in the works, and we were told the developer had nothing to announce.

Indeed, if you’ve been keeping up with Diablo 4 news, you’ll know this isn’t the first time the existence of a Switch 2 version has leaked. Last year, a different noted leaker said Diablo 4 was among several Microsoft-published games being ported to Switch 2. The game also appeared on the database for Indonesia’s rating board back in April, and the Taiwanese rating board just a few weeks later.

Given how close we are to the leaked release date, when can we expect an official announcement? The smart money is on Gamescom. This year’s edition kicks off later this month, and it’s an event Blizzard has attended in the past. Diablo 3’s own Switch 1 port was announced just one week before that year’s Gamescom following leaks, so you can imagine it was initially intended for the show proper.

This year’s BlizzCon is also a potential outlet. The show takes place 12th-13th September, and given the leaked release dates, the developer could be planning a shadow-drop-style announcement to kick off the event.
