Cate Blanchett Makes Quiet Luxury Look Surprisingly Casual in Givenchy

Cate Blanchett gave her stamp of approved to the latest casual takes on quiet luxury with her coordinated Givenchy look at BFI Southbank’s screening and Q&A of the 1966 Ingmar Bergman film “Persona” in London on Tuesday.

The two-time Oscar-winning actress turned to the French luxury fashion house for her pared back look. Comprising a denim midi skirt and white button-down collared blouse with billowing three-quarter-length sleeves, the outfit was paired with platform Hogan sneakers for an extra casual element.

The quiet luxury aesthetic continued through Blanchett’s beauty look. Her hair was slicked back, while soft makeup and limited jewelry pieces completed the look. The Givenchy outfit was quite the contrast to the more elaborate designs the actress has worn from the French luxury fashion house.

At the 2026 Cannes Film Festival last May, Blanchett showcased French luxury fashion with Givenchy and Louis Vuitton looks. The actress’ Givenchy dress hailed from the maison’s fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection.

The painted, embroidered, shredded and fringed backless gown, designed by creative director Sarah Burton, evoked a “Flemish flower painting,” per Miles Socha’s WWD review of the collection, which debuted during Paris Fashion Week last March.

With her “Persona” screening attire, Blanchett showcased the range of Burton’s Givenchy and endorsed a more casual take on the quiet luxury trend recently embraced by other high-profile figures, including Meghan Markle.

The Duchess of Sussex went a similar route with her elevated casual attire at a “Cookie Queens” screening on July 29 in Ojai, Calif. Markle wore the Gaia marled T-shirt from Brochu Walker with white Jenni Kayne shorts.

The shift to casual variations on quiet luxury style feels less like a retirement of the trend than a seasonal adaptation. Well-made basics are still coveted closet staples, but summer has brought a lighter, more casual variation suited for both the weather and the occasion.
