With a little less than a month to go before voters head to the polls in the trio of byelections that will unofficially usher in the fall political season, Conservative MP Frank Caputo is set to join North Vancouver — Capilano, B.C. Conservative hopeful Stephen Curran at a mid-morning media event to reiterate their party’s call for the government to designate Kata’ib Hizballah as a terrorist entity. (10 a.m. PT)

Over the weekend, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre released an open letter to Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree that, as iPolitics reported at the time, asks him to “immediately recommend” adding the “Iranian-backed militia group accused of plotting attacks on a synagogue and the U.S. consulate in Toronto” to the list,” which “would criminalize any dealings with the organization and permit law enforcement to seize assets and ban members from entering or remaining in the country,” he notes.

As yet, Anandasangaree does not appear to have responded publicly to Poilievre’s demand.

Meanwhile, Women and Gender Equality Minister Rechie Valdez teams up with her Newfoundland and Labrador counterpart, Lela Evans, as well as local Liberal MP Joanne Thompson for a mid-morning media availability in St. John’s to highlight “renewed support for crisis hotlines responding to gender-based violence” throughout the province.
