Chelsea have improved their bid for Rayo Vallecano full-back Pep Chavarría as negotiations continue.
Xabi Alonso has identified Chavarria as the left-back he wants to replace Marc Cucurella at Stamford Bridge, following the latter’s transfer to Real Madrid.

Chelsea saw an offer of around €15m turned down for the 28-year-old earlier this summer, with Rayo Vallecano valuing the player at closer to €25m.
The defender is understood to have agreed personal terms with Chelsea and is keen on the move, and the Blues have now raised their offer, according to Fabrizio Romano. The latest offer from the Premier League side is around €20m, as Chelsea look to get a deal done.
Last season, Chavarrie ranked among La Liga’s top 10 full-backs for accelerations, duels won, and progressive carries.
He was part of the Rayo Vallecano side that reached the Europa Conference League final, losing to Crystal Palace in the decider.
