You’ll never hear me say “don’t wear jeans”—they’re a cornerstone of my wardrobe and one of the hardest-working pieces I own. What I will say, though, is that certain trouser trends have a way of making specific shoes look even better. Recently, I’ve found myself thinking about the trouser styles that best complement ballet flats, and I think I’ve landed on the chicest pairing of them all.

Swapping classic denim for an ultra-relaxed pair with delicate lace detailing, the model created an outfit that felt soft, effortless and polished. The fluid silhouette echoed the graceful feel of her ballerinas in a way that felt fresh and modern—something trainers simply couldn’t have achieved.

Keeping the rest of her outfit relaxed, Iris finished the look with a slouchy knit. The cosy layer balanced the femininity of the lace-trim trousers and dainty flats, preventing the outfit from feeling overly prim whilst allowing both hero pieces to shine.
