Nottinghamshire have signed Pakistan white-ball international batter Tayyab Tahir for their next three One-Day Cup fixtures.

The 33-year-old, who can also bowl leg-spin, played under Notts’ 50-over head coach Paul Franks during a spell with Central Punjab four years ago.

Tahir, who has featured for Pakistan in 11 ODIs as well as eight T20 internationals, replaces opener George Munsey, who is away on international duty with Scotland.

“I loved playing under Franksie in Pakistan, and the season we were together was one of the best I’ve had in my life,” he told Nottinghamshire’s website, external.

“He was so approachable and created a really good environment. I will try my best to make a difference, and I want to make sure my time with Notts is memorable.”

Tahir is expected to make his county debut in Sunday’s Group A fixture against Kent at Beckenham and will also be available for games against Northamptonshire and Gloucestershire later in the week.
