England prospect Davina Perrin said she remembered she has “got the shots” after recovering from injury.

The 19-year-old was touted for England recognition last season after hammering the fastest century in the history of the women’s Hundred, a 43-ball 101 for Northern Superchargers in the eliminator match.

She struck 52 from 43 deliveries in Birmingham Phoenix’s 24-run defeat by Southern Brave on Thursday, her second match back after a month on the sidelines.

“It’s my first like proper injury so there’s so much learnings from it and that’s the big thing for me, looking at what I can learn from the experience,” said Perrin.

“Seeking advice where I could as well – I managed to grab a few minutes out of [former England wicketkeeper] Sarah Taylor and she gave me a really good bit of advice.

“I wasn’t feeling great and she just said ‘don’t try and be the player that you were before, be the player that you are now’ and that really stuck with me – a reminder to be fearless, you’ve got the shots. That definitely helped today.”

Perrin was signed by Big Bash League franchise Melbourne Renegades last season, but was dismissed for a golden duck on debut and averaged 9.60 from five matches.

She was the first player drawn at the inaugural Hundred auction in March, joining Phoenix for £50,000 having played the previous two seasons for Superchargers.

After averaging 40.50 in seven matches in this season’s One-Day Cup for Warwickshire, her injury issues meant she was only able to feature in one T20 Blast fixture.

She was dropped three times by Brave in Thursday’s innings before she was caught by Maia Bouchier off the bowling of Sarah Glenn, and Perrin said she uses her 2025 century to boost her confidence.

“I think for me it was remembering you utilise that as a token of what you can do and what you’re capable of,” Perrin added.

“Doesn’t mean I’m going to do it every day, you fail more than you succeed in cricket. When you have an innings like that behind you, it’s also a nice gentle reminder that you’re not awful at cricket.

“It’s a sign of my ceiling and I’d love to like exceed that someday.”
