Microsoft doubles down on AI as data center footprint expands


Microsoft (MSFT) made one thing clear during its Q4 earnings call: the company is going all in on AI. CEO Satya Nadella said Microsoft “added 31 new data centers across five continents this year,” bringing its global total to 88 to keep pace with surging AI demand. CFO Amy Hood also explained why Microsoft is extending the estimated useful life of its data centers—a move with important implications for the company’s capital expenditure outlook and future AI investments.
