Gymnastics Carroll, Fontaine, Dolci take home Commonwealth titles
Lia-Monica Fontaine of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Que, finishes first in the women’s vault final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Fontaine won bronze in the women’s all-around event and helped Canada earn silver in the women’s team event.
Hello! I’m an associate producer with CBC Sports. Canada continues to bring home the medals in gymnastics this morning, with Jordan Carroll, Lia-Monica, Félix Dolci claiming gold medals. In total, Canada has won seven medals on Day 4, with more expected to come. Carroll captured gold in the men’s pommel horse final, scoring an outstanding 15.000. Scotland’s Reuben Ward earned silver with a score of 14.966, while teammate Cameron Lynn took bronze with 13.833. Fontaine, the 2025 world silver medallist on vault, won gold on vault with a score of 14.000 in Glasgow on Monday.
It marks Fontaine’s third medal, adding to her team silver and all-around bronze at these Games. England’s Abigail Martin claimed silver with a score of 13.799, while Wales’ Abigail Roper took bronze at 13.433. Dolci and William Emard went one-two in the men’s rings final. Dolci captured gold with a score of 13.766, while top qualifier and reigning Pan American champion Emard earned silver with 13.600. Australia’s James Hardy rounded out the podium with bronze, scoring 13.500. Canada previously achieved a one-two finish on the rings at the Commonwealth Games in 2014, with Scott Morgan taking gold and Kevin Lytwyn earning silver.
