If there was any doubt about the future of Star Wars: Unlimited, or even that the card game is “dying,” let those doubts fall to the wayside where they belong: Fantasy Flight Games is all in on Star Wars — and shaking up the game’s foundations in a major way.
In the Galactic Report during the 2026 Galactic Championship event in Las Vegas, an annual event that brings together competitive and casual players, designers, creators, and collectors, FFG unveiled how it is taking Unlimited to the next level — highlighting the next set for the trading card game: Homeworlds.
Everything we know about Star Wars: Unlimited Homeworlds
Set to launch sometime in October this year, Homeworlds brings forth over 260 new cards that highlight iconic planets, creatures, and communities in a galaxy far, far away. Its Spotlight Decks — pre-made decks, each consisting of 1 leader, base, and 50 cards overall — are Chewbacca and Grand Moff Tarkin.
These leaders come with several new gameplay innovations that expand how players can play, such as Chewbacca’s ability, which allows players to use units to attack other units — even if they are already exhausted. However, it’s Tarkin who is shaking up Unlimited‘s gameplay in a galaxy-changing way. Tarkin is a Spotlight Leader that, when brought to the field, is capable of deploying the Death Star and destroying an opponent’s base if they have 10 or less health left. If you’re a player who likes to play right up until the late game, this leader is going to be a game-changer for you.
Homeworlds also introduces the following:
- Two new token types: Beast and Weakness. While the former allows you to upgrade units, the latter lets you weaken your enemies.
- New keyword, Fortify. For the first time ever, players can upgrade their bases — fundamentally changing gameplay and opening up new strategies.
Future Star Wars: Unlimited sets
Homeworlds isn’t the only new set that FFG has in the works for Unlimited. With Homeworlds releasing in October, and Icons 2027 launching in November, FFG still has plenty in the pipeline for both Premier and Twin Sun players, as well as collectors.

No further details were revealed about the specific timeline of each set, nor what they would include gameplay-wise. However, if we had to guess, we would assume Legacy of Skywalker will be following the era of the sequels, System Overload will have a heavy droid focus, even more iconic characters will be introduced in Icons, and a Rebellion versus Empire (or Republic versus Separatist) set for Galaxy at War.
Star Wars: Unlimited future organized play
The Galactic Report also revealed that the organized play program will continue, revealing the following information about season 2.
Ashes of the Empire sector qualifiers will take place at the following locations:
- August 15-16 – Berlin, Germany
- August 22-23, Indianapolis, IN
- September 5-6, Fort Worth, TX
- September 19-20, Turin, Italy
The regional championship will take place on Oct. 30-Nov 1 in Utrecht, Netherlands.
New Star Wars: Unlimited Gamegenic accessories
Last but not least, the Galactic Report revealed several new accessories from FFG’s merchandise collaborator, Gamegenic. These accessories are specifically for Homeworlds, giving players new ways to protect, organize, and showcase their collections.
