Kuldeep Yadav: Yorkshire sign India international spinner

Yorkshire have signed India international spin bowler Kuldeep Yadav for part of this year’s One-Day Cup and County Championship.

The 31-year-old will join the White Rose for five One-Day Cup fixtures and will then return for three of the last four County Championship fixtures in September.

He will now go straight into the squad for Friday’s one-day fixture against Glamorgan in south Wales.

“I’m really pleased to be joining Yorkshire and grateful for this opportunity. It will be a real privilege to represent a club with Yorkshire’s proud history,” he said.

“I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of playing in English conditions and after speaking with the management, I became really excited to join up with the team and I’m looking forward to making a positive contribution during my time at Headingley.”

The left-arm spinner has taken 79 wickets with best figures of 5-40 in 18 Test matches and previously played against England in 2024, taking 19 wickets across the five-match series.

In one-day international cricket Yadav, who has missed all three of India’s ODIs against England this summer, has taken a total of 194 wickets with his best return 6-25.

“Kuldeep is an accomplished, international quality player who will add incredible strength to our line-up for these blocks of fixtures,” Yorkshire general manager of cricket Gavin Hamilton said.

“Given the dry summer we’ve experienced, we expect spin to play an important role during the closing stages of the season. Kuldeep gives us another dimension with his left-arm wrist spin and brings a wealth of experience at the highest level. We’re delighted to welcome him to Yorkshire.”
