To people in Alberta, possibly broadly the prairies and kind of specifically Edmonton;

Due to the introduction of a West Nile Virus vector mosquito to our local environment, this is a reminder that if you stumble on any dead animals out there, particularly birds, please call 311 or submit an online report.

West Nile Virus starts in birds, then moves to a vector mosquito, and then to humans. Monitoring bird deaths is very important for public health in general, and especially for this summer.

For those outside of Edmonton, check your local municipal utilities to confirm that 311 is the correct number to report dead animals to. Remember to wear your repellent and to minimize standing water in your home and on your property.
