It’s a much-anticipated grudge match between old rivals England and Argentina on Wednesday in the second semifinal of the 2026 World Cup held in Atlanta.

A place in Sunday’s grand finale against Spain awaits the winners of this game, which is the first encounter between these two nations in almost 21 years.

England has in-form Jude Bellingham to thank for reaching the World Cup semifinals for the fourth time, with the Real Madrid star’s brace ensuring a 2-1 comeback win over Erling Haaland’s Norway in its quarterfinal matchup.

Defending champs Argentina, meanwhile, clinched their place in the last four with a thrilling 3-1 victory over 10-man Switzerland in a match that also went to extra time. It saw Julián Álvarez and Lautaro Martínez both getting on the scoresheet.

Argentina takes on England in this semifinal match on Wednesday, July 15, at Atlanta Stadium (aka Mercedes-Benz Stadium) in Georgia, with kickoff set for 3 p.m. ET. That makes it a 12 p.m. PT start on the West Coast in the US and Canada, and an 8 p.m. BST start in the UK. For those watching in Australia, it’s a 5 a.m. AEST kickoff on Thursday.

How to watch the 2026 World Cup using a VPN

If you’re traveling abroad and want to keep up with all the World Cup action while away from home, a VPN can help enhance your privacy and security when streaming.

It encrypts your traffic and prevents your internet service provider from throttling your speeds. Additionally, it can be helpful when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks while traveling, providing an extra layer of protection for your devices and logins. VPNs are legal in many countries, including the US and Canada, and can be used for legitimate purposes such as improving online privacy and security.

However, some streaming services may have policies that restrict VPN use for accessing region-specific content. If you’re considering a VPN for streaming, check the platform’s terms of service to ensure compliance.

If you choose to use a VPN, follow the provider’s installation instructions to ensure you’re connected securely and in compliance with applicable laws and service agreements. Some streaming platforms may block access when a VPN is detected, so verifying if your streaming subscription allows VPN use is crucial.
