RCMP in Nunavut say a nine-year-old boy has been found dead in Pangnirtung, a day after his family reported him missing.

In a news release on Tuesday, police said the boy was last seen in the Baffin Island community on Sunday evening. His family reported him missing the following evening.

The boy was found dead just before noon on Tuesday, police said. They have released no other details.

RCMP say they are continuing to investigate, in collaboration with the territory’s chief coroner. Anybody who may have information is asked to contact Pangnirtung RCMP at 867-473-0123.
