Far Cry TV Series Casts Steve Buscemi

Steve Buscemi is joining the cast of FX’s Far Cry TV series.

The news was confirmed via a press release from FX, but unfortunately, there are no details on who he will be playing. Buscemi is the latest famous face to join the cast, following Lizzie Caplan earlier this summer. The two will star alongside Rob Mac of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fame, who is also producing the series with showrunner Noah Hawley (Fargo, Alien: Earth).

We don’t know who anyone is playing or what their larger roles are in the show, but Far Cry is a series known for having wild, wacky, and compelling villains. Any one of these actors could be tormenting the protagonist of this show. What we do know is that Far Cry’s TV series won’t adapt any of the games and will be an anthology series, similar to the structure of the games. You can expect each season to feature a new cast, setting, and story, ensuring it stays fresh for years to come.

It’s unclear when the show will release, as production doesn’t seem to have started quite yet. It’s possible that filming will begin later in the summer or in the fall, with the intention of releasing late 2027 or early 2028, but only time will tell. Either way, here’s hoping this show can capture the same kind of magic in a bottle that Fallout has managed to on Prime Video.

As for the Far Cry video games, we’re not quite sure what’s going on over there. Far Cry hasn’t had a brand new game since 2021, and the series had a pretty consistent release cadence up until that point. Rumors indicate that the next Far Cry will be a very different take, possibly even featuring weapon durability and a time limit like the Dead Rising series. Ubisoft may be trying to time the next game to release alongside the show, but we’ll see if that happens.
