Home Run Derby announcers

Barry Bonds

The headliner at the Home Run Derby will be Barry Bonds, who hit an MLB-record 762 home runs in his career and won the 1992 Home Run Derby. Bonds joined Netflix for Opening Night between the Yankees and Giants, and he returns for the streaming service’s coverage of this event. He will be on a desk that also features Elle Duncan and Albert Pujols.

Albert Pujols

Albert Pujols hit 703 home runs in his career, but never won this event when he was playing. Still, the slugger has joined the media in his post-career and provides Netflix another pure home-run hitter to help analyze the contestants, as he will be with Bonds and Elle Duncan on one of the desks throughout the night.

Anthony Rizzo

In his first year of retirement, Anthony Rizzo has take to television as a member of broadcasts for both NBC and Netflix. Rizzo was on Netflix’s Opening Night team and has since broadcasted several games for NBC’s Sunday Night Baseball. He is expected to be part of the main desk with Matt Vasgersian and Hunter Pence.

Hunter Pence

Hunter Pence is another retired MLB player who now works in the media, as he joined Netflix before the season along with his work for Apple TV. Pence was not necessarily a home run hitter but did win multiple World Series with the Giants, and he is the only former Phillies player on the crew in Philadelphia this week.

Matt Vasgersian

Vasgersian is all over baseball media, as he works for MLB Network and NBC, but he also lends his voice to Netflix now. Vasgersian called the Opening Night game between the Yankees and Giants, and Netflix is bringing him back as the main announcer for the Home Run Derby. He will be on a desk with Rizzo and Pence.

Elle Duncan

Elle Duncan left ESPN for Netflix last year, as she is the face of the service’s pivot to sports in recent years. Duncan hosted the Opening night game and returns for the Home Run Derby, where she will work with Bonds and Pujols in particular.

Michael Irvin

Netflix has recruited some special guests for past broadcasts, and the service is doing it again by adding Michael Irvin for the Home Run Derby. While Irvin made a name for himself in football, he is a media veteran and will undoubtedly bring energy to the broadcast in whatever role he’s assigned.

Lauren Shehadi

Shehadi works for MLB Network and TBS throughout the year as both a host and on-field reporter. For Netflix, she will once again be providing sideline reporting, this time in a chaotic environment at the Home Run Derby.
