Breeze Airways Grows Tampa Network By Adding 2 New Routes To Las Vegas & Islip

Breeze Airways is expanding its Tampa International Airport (TPA) network with two new routes to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) and Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip. The carrier has added the services to its schedule, with the previously unserved Islip route set to begin on January 6 and operate twice weekly. The flights can already be booked online. The additions will give Tampa travelers more nonstop options while putting Breeze into direct competition with established carriers in both markets.

The Islip route is particularly notable because Breeze has not previously served the Tampa-Long Island market. According to data shared by Enilria, demand between the two airports has increased sharply over the past year, potentially creating room for another competitor. Breeze’s latest additions also reinforce Tampa’s importance within the airline’s rapidly expanding network.

Breeze will operate twice-weekly flights between Tampa and Islip beginning January 6. While the airline has steadily expanded its presence at both airports, the carrier has apparently not previously attempted this particular route. Breeze will join Frontier Airlines and Southwest Airlines in offering nonstop service between Tampa and Islip.

The market has grown significantly over the past year. According to figures shared by Enilria, passenger demand reached 274 passengers daily each way (PDEW) for the year ending March 2026, compared with just 79 PDEW for the previous 12-month period. At the same time, the average roundtrip fare fell from $382 to $331, suggesting that additional capacity and competition have helped stimulate demand.

Breeze’s entrance will add another option for passengers traveling between Florida’s Gulf Coast and Long Island. The airline has frequently targeted routes where it believes travelers are underserved or where nonstop competition remains relatively limited, although the Tampa-Islip market has become considerably more competitive over the past year.

Frontier Currently Controls More Than Half Of The Market

Frontier currently holds the largest share of traffic between Tampa and Islip. For the year ending March 2026, the ultra-low-cost carrier accounted for 58% of the market, followed by Southwest with 27% and JetBlue Airways with 11%. Breeze will therefore need to capture passengers from established competitors or help stimulate additional demand to make the new service successful.

The point-of-sale split is relatively balanced, with Islip accounting for 56% of bookings and Tampa representing the remaining 44%. Among passengers originating in Islip, Frontier held a 56% share, compared with 28% for Southwest and 13% for JetBlue. For travelers beginning their journeys in Tampa, Frontier’s dominance was even greater at 60%, while Southwest and JetBlue accounted for 27% and 9%, respectively.

Capacity on the route also changes throughout the year. The market is currently scheduled to average seven weekly flights in August 2026, then decline to five weekly flights in November. In August, Frontier is scheduled to operate five weekly Airbus A320neo flights, while Southwest will provide two weekly Boeing 737 flights.

Las Vegas Adds Another Major Destination From Tampa

Breeze is also expanding its Tampa network with new daily service to Las Vegas from January 5, adding another major leisure destination from its Florida operation. The route aligns closely with the carrier’s strategy of connecting major leisure markets while continuing to expand its presence at airports where it has established substantial operations.

The two additions demonstrate the different types of opportunities Breeze is pursuing. Las Vegas is one of the largest leisure destinations in the US, while Islip offers an alternative, less-crowded gateway to the New York metropolitan area and serves a more geographically concentrated market. Adding both destinations allows Breeze to broaden Tampa’s connectivity while targeting different groups of travelers.

Breeze has grown rapidly since beginning operations in 2021, relying heavily on its expanding A220 fleet to open routes that larger carriers may not operate frequently. Tampa has emerged as an important part of that strategy, and the latest additions suggest the airline continues to see opportunities for further growth in Florida.
