When you feel hot, the least you can try to look cool. So, I come bearing a little colour therapy. These French girl summer colour trends might not literally cool you down, but they’re a visual breath of fresh air for your wardrobe (hello, mint), especially if you’re looking to expand outside the usual scope of neutrals and more vibrant but classic warm-weather colours.
Whilst there are so many fashion colour trends around the world you can pull from, I’ve honed in on what the most stylish French women are turning to, especially since they, like us based here in the UK, are facing heatwaves of epic proportions this summer.
As a quick rundown, these summer colour trends encompass a wide range, from earthier shades such as khaki to more vibrant hues like limoncello. What’s true of all of them is that they’re guaranteed to work with the foundational summer wardrobe you already have locked in and the summer trends you might be experimenting with. If you’re a fan of neutrals, peach and periwinkle slot in nicely as small bright spots of colour within your summer outfits. If you like bolder tones when dressing for hot weather, mint and chartreuse nail the brief.
They also effortlessly slot into whatever plans you have. If you’re escaping the city, take note of how the French fashion tastemakers heading south for coastal views and a sea breeze wear these colours. If you’re dwelling within the limits of Paris, there are plenty of ways to work these colour combinations for al fresco dinners and cooler evening walks. And even when this heat (hopefully) settles, these trends will take you all the way to the end of September.
Without further ado, here are the six summer colour trends French women are embracing in 2026.
6 French Girl Summer Colour Trends to Wear in 2026
1. Khaki
Style Notes: Khaki is an undeniably useful colour to have on hand during the summer. Although its earthy tone insinuates it’s a better fit for autumn or winter, it’s a sleeper hit for the hottest months of the year. Khaki behaves like a neutral in that it’s versatile and easy to pair with a surprising number of colours (like hot pink, mint and purple). It also comes in so many variations, from beige-leaning hues to deeper olive shades, which makes it easy to find a tone that works best with your summer capsule. I’ll be copying French stylist Marie-Victoire Tiangue and pairing hot pink and khaki for an unexpected duo that’s remarkably summery.

2. Periwinkle
Style Notes: Speaking of colours that work with khaki, periwinkle sits firmly on that list.(And it works with hot pink too). This specific hue of blue, although light, is a touch cooler in colour temperature than other trending shades, such as teal. It’s breezy and it certainly won’t fade in popularity come next summer. Blue shades rarely do. Whether you wear it as a crisp button-down, as a dress or through footwear, you won’t have any issues making it work with the rest of your clothes.

Though neutral shoes often win on my shoe rack, I’m always swayed by sandals in slides that stand out from an outfit, just like these.
3. Chartreuse
Style Notes: Chartreuse is summer’s answer to spring’s colour trends, such as aquamarine. It’s louder, brighter and exactly the kind of hue you want to wear when it’s scorching. It stands out, but even for fashion minimalists, it’s an enticing colour because it still carries with it a sense of sophistication. It blends well with colours closer to it on the spectrum, such as butter yellow and limoncello (stay tuned), but it’s equally as fun to pair with tones just as bold as it, like cobalt.

4. Mint
Style Notes: My ice cream order when it’s unbearably hot is mint chocolate chip, and I might as well wear it now too—the colour, that is. French women are opting for this invigorating hue in myriad tones, from lighter barely-there green to more pigmented shades. Mint is wildly reminiscent of seafoam, which warms my millennial heart, but it feels a little more relevant for 2026 outfits.

5. Limoncello
Style Notes: If you had the urge to continue scrolling when you saw this colour, hear me out. I know, butter yellow has had a long run (it’s a great hue), but you can look at limoncello it’s more vivacious counterpart and thank Hailey Bieber for its resurgence this year. It has more pigment than the barely-there whisper of yellow featured in buttermilk, but it’s not as loud as mustard, which can feel trickier to style. Plus, the rhyming limoncello yellow just has a nice ring to it.

6. Peach
Style Notes: Peach has a delicacy and slight vintage appeal to it, which is more than welcome during a year when more romantic styles and trends are very much in. Although it’s akin to light pink, the warmth of peach is a little more fitting than the pastel, powder and baby pinks of spring. It’s another hue that looks nice with khaki; it also sits well against cream and makes the perfect contrast for black or dark brown.
