Qatar Airways Suddenly Suspends Flights To 13 Destinations: See The Full List Now

Qatar Airways has confirmed that 13 destinations served from Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) will remain suspended. Flights were due to resume in September, but their reintroduction has been pushed back to at least March 2027, if at all. Only those places that have just their flights pulled are included, which rules out several other markets, including all cities that the airline normally serves in Iran.

Each week, airlines submit schedule changes to the likes of Cirium Diio and OAG. New routes, eliminated markets, equipment swaps, more or fewer flights, and other such developments, may materialize. Examining the latest plans can identify some intriguing stories, including this article’s topic. I explore notable developments for Simple Flying, while other publications do it too, including Aeroroutes.

The List Of 13 Suspended Destinations

They are summarized in the following table. This reflects what is known as of July 6 and is certainly subject to change. Flights to seven of the destinations are due to return at the end of March or in early April. That is because northern hemisphere-based airlines, including Qatar Airways, will switch to summer schedules on March 28, based on IATA slot seasons.

The six routes with no flights are more interesting. They include Hamburg Airport (HAM), which last saw the oneworld member in March this year. The continued suspension of flights is perhaps unsurprising. After all, Qatar Airways only began flying to the airport, which is in northern Germany, in 2024, primarily with a daily Boeing 787-8 operation. It is currently unclear if, or when, service will resume.

Qatar Airways To Somalia

Mogadishu Aden Adde International Airport (MGQ) serves the capital of Somalia. Qatar Airways has flown there since 2019, with the above photo taken after the first aircraft arrived. In the subsequent seven years, most, but not all, of the services have operated via Djibouti–Ambouli International Airport (JIB) in both directions, with fifth freedom traffic rights.

Qatar Airways’ arrival in MGQ came four years before Emirates’ narrowbody partner, flydubai. However, flydubai pulled out a year later. Turkish Airlines continues to fly from Istanbul Airport (IST) to MGQ, with the 737 MAX 8 running nonstop in both directions.

DOH-JIB-MGQ is ordinarily flown three times a week on the 132-seat Airbus A320ceo, which is the carrier’s lowest-capacity equipment. Booking data for April 2025 to March 2026 shows that over 17,000 MGQ passengers connected to another flight in DOH. The ten most popular markets were London, Oslo, Cairo, Bangkok, Hyderabad, Lahore, Amsterdam, Dubai, Copenhagen, and Beijing. Unlike Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways is especially well-placed to target traffic flying across Asia.

Qatar Airways Has Removed A Further 2.4% Of Its Flights

The latest schedule update for September 2026 to February 2027 shows that Qatar Airways has removed 2.4% of the carrier’s planned flights from DOH. That might not sound like much, but it is on top of other cuts. Indeed, compared to September 2025 to February 2026, the airline’s offering is now down by 6.9%.

Let’s compare September 2025 to February 2026 with what’s available in those months in 2026-2027. Nations with particularly big reductions in flights include Syria (-44%), Hungary (-43%), Romania (-40%), Serbia (-39%), Denmark (-36%), Oman (-29%), Poland (-29%), and Norway (-24%). It has ceased flying to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Countries that will have more services include Algeria (+57%), Japan (+46%), Russia (+43%), Egypt (+35%), China (+19%), Canada (+18%), and Bangladesh (+15%). Qatar Airways will also begin flying to Colombia and Venezuela, along with returning to Finland and Sudan.
