Wade Seccombe named Victoria’s head of men’s cricket

Seccombe moves into the state set-up from his most recent role as Performance Manager for Melbourne Renegades having previously been head coach of Queensland and Brisbane Heat in the BBL.

His new job will see him working across Victoria’s men’s set-up and also looking to strengthen ties between the professional programme and Premier Cricket.

“Wade has made a strong impression through the work he has already done with us at Cricket Victoria, particularly through his contribution to our T20 strategy and recruitment,” Graham Manou, Cricket Victoria’s general manger of cricket performance, said.

“His performance in that role, combined with his broader experience across Australian Cricket, made him an excellent candidate to lead our male high-performance program.”

Seccombe is currently at MLC through Victoria’s partnership with San Francisco Unicorns.

“Cricket Victoria has a proud history and a strong group of players, coaches and staff across the state and Big Bash programs,” he said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to helping create an environment where players can perform, develop and enjoy representing Victoria.”

Renegades, where Seccombe previously worked since 2024, will play this upcoming Big Bash season under a temporary structure in both WBBL and BBL after Cricket Victoria announced they would sell the club’s license and operate one franchise which is set to see Melbourne Stars rebranded.

The men’s state fixtures are expected to be announced later this week. Victoria reached the Sheffield Shield final last season but fell to South Australia.
